Hobbies Notebooks Traveler's notebook

Trying out a Traveler’s notebook p.t 1

I have soon tried out all sort of possible notebook options I think. I have tried binders, scrapbook paper ring bound books and so far what I have enjoyed the most is just normal bullet journals with dotted lines. I have like hundred unused I have bought from Flying Tiger of Copenhagen here in Norway. It is really cheap and can be used for small projects you want to keep organized.

When it comes to my yearly bujo, I often go for a more expensive ones though, as I want thicker paper and the chance to use my beloved watercolor pencils. First year I had a Leuchtturm1917, that held watercolor really well, but the pages was close to see through. Still, what I disliked the most was the color of the paper. The second year I decided to try a thicker book, and ordered my first Scribbles that Matter. I ended up using it as a notebook instead for some of my stories and then decided to order the B5 option for my yearly bujo that year. It ended up really nice and all, but sadly I found I could not try and make any of the pretty watercolor spreads all over youtube.

Then this year I decided to go for a mix. What if there existed a book like Scribbles that Matter just with pages made for watercolor? ooOOoooh. So i ended up gettin the blackout Archer and Olive one. Yeah, I know I sort of messed up the thought somewhere, and I ended up with a yearly bujo that also does not allow me to do the spreads I wanted. I did order a normal one too as well eventually, but that one I want to see if I can make sort of artsy with random things. So it will be a project for the future!

So now I come to my new test! Can I make a traveler’s notebook into that Urban Sketchers dream I have always had? (probably not)

I do not really like the size of the normal books, but I like the options and the idea of having more books you can change out and the thought that if you don’t like how one ends up, the entire book isn’t ruined.

So for the next few weeks until payday I had the options: Buy one on Etsy with inserts and hope it was as the picture showed. Buy the midori ones from a Norwegian shop and get all the extra pocket stickers and all the inserts as well. Or order from two pages and get the Carpe Diem one that is slighly bigger, with 4 rubber bands and pockets, lots and lots of pockets! Then order the inserts from midori on the side.

Of course I went for the Carpe Diem one. It had designs on, I like pretty designs. And I like pockets. A lot.

I ordered two lined inserts, one for sketching, one for watercolor and one with kraft paper. I wanted the plastic pockets and grid inserts as well, but those were sold out sadly.

Then I waited. Oh how I waited. One week is hard when you wait for stuff. Extra painful when the Carpe Diem cover comes first and then you have to decide to lay it away from sight until the inserts all arrive after the weekend. The pain was real.

Then… it all came together.

It is time…

To be continued O.O
