Happy Planner Hobbies

Try on Happy Planner

I have to be honest. One of the reasons I had not thought about Happy Planners before, was the layout. But I thought that maybe it would be a lot easier with some stickers and a ready made layout for my new busy days as a boss.

But the biggest reason I decided that I liked the idea of Happy Planner, was the disc system.

So I decided to try on one calender book, and see if it was all that amazing as I had heard.

Come with me, almost two years in the future, to see what I ended up thinking in the end.

As you can see, as with the traveler’s notebook, I ended up getting all the things I could from the start. I ordered some things from a web page in Norway, and then I got the rest from Happy Planners themselves. Sadly they did not have the hole puncher when I ordered first, but they eventually got it in again and I got it cheap since I had points from the first big order. And somehow the two of them came at the same time. So yay?

I will be honest about what I have found out for myself in terms of using a Happy Planner. I cannot do the vertical planner layout. I see people online make them with all the stickers and it all does look nice, but I just look at them and panic, trying to wrap my brain around where do I even write?!

So I early found out I had to just give up on that. I did one and a half month, wrote nothing in it, and then just tore them all out and used the pretty dividers. I also found out I really didn’t like that thin plastic covers, and I had sort of started to give slightly up on it, when I ordered some thicker covers.

The fake leather covers and the linen covers came, and I started making my own pages and used it all for my own needs. I could add things I wanted to have the change to maybe change around later. Feeling no pressure about not being able to move it again later. Over time I became a pro at just pulling out pages and dividers and moving them around covers depending on what I wanted to bring along to work to use that day.

My favorite so far is the happy planner quilted black cover, and I got the metallic rainbow medium discs. I also got a Jane’s Agenda Big fake leather cover with pockets on the inside. But I haven’t gotten to use it too much yet. I really loved both it and the dotted paper they sell. I just regret not buying more when I did. I really want more dotted pages to use in my Happy Planners, but I found the B5 kraft paper pads from Archer and Olive is perfect for the classic sized planners. You have to open the pad and not tear them off, but they are amazing to use for anything.

I also got a lot of white and black pages used for scrapbook books and cut them to size and cut holes in them. I used a lot of them to make swatch pages for my washi tape, as I also discovered a page with so many pretty washi tapes I could not help myself.

I had so many pretty washi I filled about 10 pages, but I regretted nothing. Getting all the washi tape made me really happy. My bank account was sadder than usual, but not me. I were overcome with joy and the desire to hoard it all and never even use it.

As I said, I might have gone slightly insane…

There is really a lot of pretty washi at the washi tape shop, and I think I will have more than I need for a while.

So in hindsight, I have decided that I won’t use anything I have to work on making for weekly planning, because I use more work on making it than I do using it. But I will use it for any other possible thing to use it for!
